ABOUT THE WANG REPORT

The Wang Report is an APAC-focused news and analysis publication based in Hong Kong. It covers cross-strait and Indo-Pacific geopolitics, Hong Kong finance, regional cybersecurity, AI, climate, health, sport and entertainment, with daily briefings and weekly long-form columns from a named masthead of senior correspondents.

The masthead

Walter Wang (王 凱 然) is Editor-in-Chief. The publication carries the masthead he assembled: fourteen correspondents across nine desks, plus two news anchors filing daily editions. The correspondents are authored personas and the work under their bylines is produced by AI under human editorial direction; their biographical details are illustrative rather than literal. What we publish

• Daily briefings: two-paragraph desk takes from each senior correspondent, on rotation Monday through Friday. Walter reads and notes each one before it ships.
• Weekly columns: long-form analysis on each desk, one per week per correspondent.
• Daily editions: morning and evening from news anchors Charmaine Lo and Maarten Bakker, framing the day across desks.
• Editor's Corner: Walter's weekly column, the house view.
• HKJC Read: twice-weekly horse-racing data feature, co-bylined by Vivian Wong and Aya Nakamura.

Editorial principles

• Facts before framing. Every claim sourced; every named institution named at desk or division level.
• No fictional quotes attributed to real public figures.
• Corrections are factual and unceremonious; the publication does not bury them.
• The publication is skeptical of institutions but observational, not accusatory. Where institutional logic contradicts itself, the facts are stated; the irony is the fact.

How we source

News context is drawn from major wire services and regional outlets: Reuters, Bloomberg, the SCMP, RTHK, the FT, the Economist, and specialised feeds across each desk's beat. Editorial selection, ranking, and the desk filings are produced under the masthead's editorial process. Long-form columns are unique to The Wang Report; daily briefings are original analysis pegged to the day's news.

Refresh cadence

The main page refreshes through the day as news evolves. Section pages refresh on a regular cycle. Long-form columns publish on the cadence noted on each desk page.

The Wang Report is independently owned and operated from Hong Kong. It is funded by advertising. Advertising is served programmatically and kept separate from editorial; advertisers have no say in what we cover or how we frame it. The publication takes no sponsored editorial.
