The Centre for Health Protection's dengue advisory -- A4, printed Wednesday, now taped to the notice boards at country park entrances across the territory -- is where this weekend starts if you are planning to hike. The territory's second locally acquired dengue case of the year is under investigation. Source unknown. Bring repellent rated above 20% DEET; log your entry and exit time if you are going to Shing Mun or Pat Sin Leng on Sunday.

**Weather.** High near 32 both days, humidity in the upper eighties, scattered afternoon thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. No typhoon signal as of Thursday evening. Check signals before you leave Sunday morning.

**Civic.** Police stopped a street artist on Thursday marking June 4 -- the seventh year the public commemoration at Victoria Park has not taken place. CE John Lee stepped down from his Cambridge University advisory fellowship the same day; the university cited rights concerns in media reports, Lee's public statement cited scheduling. Both happened Thursday.

**Housing.** Demographia's 2026 International Housing Affordability survey placed Hong Kong first on the unaffordability index for the sixteenth consecutive year. The ratio is 16.7x. Open houses in Sham Shui Po and Kowloon City will run Saturday afternoon as listed in the property supplements.

**Sport.** The French Open concludes this weekend; the men's final is Sunday at Roland Garros, live on TVB Pearl from approximately 8pm HKT. The 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage opens Thursday June 11. This is the last quiet weekend.

For families: the Hong Kong Science Museum has opened its summer programming block. Get to the ticketing desk before 11am Saturday. The CHP dengue advisory covers outdoor venues including playgrounds near wooded areas -- the notice at the Kowloon Park entrance on Nathan Road names the relevant precautions.

The A4 advisory sheet will still be taped to the park notice board on Monday morning. Watch the CHP count. If the Health Department confirms a third locally acquired case before then, current protocol requires escalation of the public alert level -- a threshold the CHP said Wednesday had not been reached.
